Recently And We Danced DJ Entertainment was put to the test at a wedding reception during the garter toss. The groom was planning to pull some gag items out of the bride’s gown while the he was pulling off her garter, but nothing ever goes as planned!

The bride requested excerpts from three songs to use during this time.  We had to think on our feet and banter with the bride and groom to entertain the crowd during this process. While our DJ was playing these suggestive songs, our MC worked the crowd, bride and groom promoting the suggestive nature of the songs. The crowd enjoyed what was happening and was laughing along. We then played the third song, and things began to drastically change.

The bride and groom picked the third song, Pony by Ginuwine, to do their garter removal.  If you know the song, you can almost guess at what happened next. The very conservative crowd became very quiet and uncomfortable listening to the suggestive lyrics, and the raciness of the groom removing the garter. There were no gag items being removed from the bride’s gown.  Instead, the groom began to grind to the music! Our MC saw that the crowd was becoming uncomfortable and to relax them began to crack some jokes.  It was only 8pm, so references were made to it being the G-rated hour of the night getting close to the PG-rated hour! The crowd started to relax and laugh. Finally, the garter was off, and we were ready to toss the garter.  Whew!

Brides-to-be and grooms-to-be, please remember that it is your big day, but people can become uncomfortable if you push the envelope.  And We Danced DJ Entertainment is deft at bailing you out if need be!

We had so many people pat us on the back and thank us for doing such a great job afterward.  Wedding MCs need to think on their feet, and we proved ourselves that night.

Sometimes the Garter can be so Elusive and Complicated!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had a marvelous time at the Nittany Lion Inn on December 2nd with Penn State’s Graduate and Professional Student Association as they held their annual Winter Gala.  And We Danced placed uplights around the room displaying the color blue to give a charming PSU feeling to the room. Later, the lights were synchronized to change color with the music.

And We Danced DJ Entertainment provided light background and holiday music during the dinner hour. At eight o’clock, the students were ready to have fun. Lights were turned down, and the students began getting up and moving to the music. While some guests left to get some fun pictures with their friends and significant others at the photo booth provided by Lotsa Laffs Photo Booths, many began to sway and get down to the thrilling dance music. By the third song, the dance floor was packed with guests partying. Lights were flashing while the guests performed the Cupid Shuffle, Wobble and Cha Cha Slide. The dance floor was so packed that guests were dancing on the carpeting next to the tables.

Two hours was not enough time for these students. When And We Danced announced that the gala would be ending, the guests began shouting for an encore! And We Danced quickly played a few more songs before saying goodbye to the graduate students.

The Penn State Graduate and Professional Student Association’s Winter Gala is one of our absolute favorite events of the year! We can’t wait to party with them in 2018. See you next year!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had the honor of providing entertainment for the Callahan-Krauss Wedding on November 25 at the Hyatt Place in State College.  This event marked the first appearance of And We Danced DJ Entertainment at the Hyatt Place.

Kevin and Eve were married in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area in September.  Kevin’s parents, Mark and Nancy, held an “east coast” reception for friends and family, with a “west coast” reception being held by Eve’s parents in December.  Food was provided by the Federal Taphouse

Eve is a fortunate bride because she receives the opportunity to wear her wedding dress for her wedding in San Francisco, east coast reception and west coast reception.  The couple began their night dancing with Ben E. King’s Stand By Me and continued dancing, singing and mingling until the very end.  A special tribute to all of the hunters in attendance took place with Da Yoopers’ Second Week Of Deer Camp!  Young and old also had the privilege to play cornhole with the bride and groom during the festivities.

At the end of the night many of the guests thanked And We Danced DJ Entertainment for a great time!  Congratulations Kevin and Eve!   And We Danced DJ Entertainment  had a totally awesome time as their wedding DJs!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had the pleasure of emceeing and DJing Jesse and Nikki’s wedding reception at the Nittany Country Club on Saturday, October 7th.  Nikki chose the colors navy and peach as the theme for her wedding day.  Her bridesmaids, mother of the bride and mother of the groom wore navy blue dresses, while Nikki displayed elegance in her Brides of Today wedding gown.  Jesse and his groomsmen sported lovely grey suits with peach ties.

Photographer Sarina Bower of Bower Shots was quick to capture all the joy and happiness of the day.  Nikki’s mom, Donna, created the beautiful bouquets, boutonnières and corsages for the wedding party and family members.  Linda of the Nittany Country Club provided a delicious meal and awesome cookie tray for the guests.  And We Danced DJ Entertainment inspired the happy couple, family and friends to dance to their favorite tunes.  Guests had a hilarious time laughing, smiling and quickly posing with Lotsa Laffs Photo Booths BIG camera open photo booth.

Nikki and Jesse met at work, they bonded over their love for gaming and Pokemon Go and are now happily married.  Thank you for the wonderful time And We Danced DJ Entertainment experienced with all of your guests on that beautiful autumn day.  We wish the best of luck to you in the future.  Enjoy your honeymoon trip to the beautiful Pennsylvania Poconos!

A recent bride-to-be who hired And We Danced DJ Entertainment for her wedding approached us with a very good question about custom song edits.  This concept is worth bringing up to everyone. She stated that while she was thrilled to be planning her first dance and her father/daughter dance, the thought of spending over eight minutes on the dance floor as the focal point for two dances made her very nervous. Her question was, “Is there any way that these two songs can be shortened, other than just chopping the ends off?”

As this bride-to-be learned, And We Danced DJ Entertainment is very skilled and knowledgeable when it comes to custom song edits. Our expertise as both DJs and musicians embraces the concept that songs should always have a beginning, middle and end. Simply fading a song early to produce a shorter edit is an approach that is not employed by us, unless it is part of a live improvised mix. If shorter songs are requested for the dance floor as part of our event planning process, And We Danced takes the opportunity to establish the edits properly – with a beginning, middle and end to the song which are properly extracted and edited from the original song structure.

The fruit of our work was very apparent in watching this bride take the dance floor! Skillfully and properly crafted custom edits of the two songs reduced the total time that this nervous bride spent on the dance floor from eight minutes down to four minutes, providing her with much anxiety relief. As your wedding DJ or event DJ, And We Danced DJ Entertainment will assist with custom song edits for any event! While our work in this area primarily focuses on weddings, a great deal of custom song edits are used for other events, as well. Contact us today to get the process started!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had the pleasure of working with Daniel and Morgan as they tied the knot and later celebrated their nuptials with family and friends at General Potter Farm in late July. Morgan wore a beautiful Anais Anette bridal gown. Daniel and his groomsmen sported white shirts, dark pants, and pink ties.

Jana Scott of Jana Scott Photography did a magnificent job capturing the bridal couple’s memorable moments alongside family and friends. Dolce Vita Desserts created wonderful chocolate and vanilla cupcakes for the guests, and a stirring one tier cake for the bride and groom’s cutting pleasure. Hoag’s Catering did an outstanding job with the roasted pig that tantalized the taste buds. Woodrings Floral Gardens enhanced the day with beautiful flower decorations.  And We Danced DJ Entertainment emceed and kept the crowd singing and moving that night. Binky of the General Potter Farm was a pure joy in helping the day move along efficiently.

Thank you Daniel and Morgan for letting And We Danced DJ Entertainment be the wedding DJs for your special day!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had the honor of providing sound and entertainment for Nicole and Kenneth’s wedding this past summer. Nicole Kirchner met Kenneth Hall at freshman orientation. Eight months later, they reconnected at a ballroom dance. On Friday night, June 23rd, Ken and Nicole walked down the aisle at the Arboretum at Penn State with Dan Ott as their officiant. Nicole wore a Kenneth Winston bridal creation for her special day, her bridal party wore purple Nicole’s favorite color, and her bridal bouquet and flowers came from Deb’s Flower Farm. They entertained the crowd with their ballroom dancing skills during their first dance with Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me. Later, Ken and his mother, Courtney, wowed the audience as they tripped the light fantastic with Harry Connick, Jr.’s A Wink and A Smile.
