And We Danced DJ Entertainment had a fantastic time celebrating the marriage of Ashley Thomas and Brandon Taylor recently in Cassville, Pennsylvania. Brandon and Ashley tied the knot on the Thomas’ family farm. Dave Thomas was the officiant for the wedding ceremony.

The rain soaked soggy ground did not take away from the love and joy of the event. Family came from far and wide to celebrate the grand occasion. Brandon and other family members laid hay down to stop the sogginess of the grass interfering with the reception festivities. The hay was a lovely touch and created a floating atmosphere for dancing that night.

The bride and groom had a marvelous two-layer cake to cut and feed to each other. Brandon and Ashley were naughty and nice for the event. They feed each other a sliver of cake, and then Brandon added a touch of icing to Ashley’s face as the naughty part. Guests were given a choice of white, chocolate, lemon, apple spice or peanut butter cupcakes.

The newlyweds had a homestyle buffet for guests to enjoy. Beef, chicken, and pulled pork were the choice meats with chicken nuggets added for the youngsters. And We Danced DJ Entertainment provided the ceremony sound, reception music, lights and emceeing for the day’s events.

The new Mr. & Mrs. Brandon Taylor began the reception festivities dancing to Scotty McCreery’s This Is It. Ashley could always be seen dancing with her son Mason or family members that night. There was a little rivalry occurring later in the evening between relatives when one donned an Ohio State sweatshirt and another wore a Penn State sweatshirt while awaiting highlights of the Penn State-Ohio State football game.

Thank you Brandon and Ashley for allowing And We Danced DJ Entertainment to be a part of your marriage ceremony and reception. Good luck in your new life as husband and wife!

Woodring’s Floral Gardens provided the beautiful pink and coral flower bouquets, boutonnières, and corsages for the day. And We Danced DJ Entertainment was 1,809 feet above sea level while providing sound, lights, emceeing and music for Katie Foytik and Kurtis Webb’s marriage and reception at Harrison’s Above the Valley Event Center in Centre Hall on August 11th. Katie wore a stunning off-white, sleeveless gown with a beaded bodice. Her sparkly, gold sequined tennis shoes were a marvelous pairing to her ensemble. Katie held a beautiful bouquet of light orange roses offset by a collection of white flowers.  Kurtis and his groomsmen wore black suits with white shirts.

Katie was escorted down the aisle by her father. Joshua Wallace of Milton, PA was the officiant for the ceremony. Katie was traditional for most of the ceremony, but she was untraditional for the recessional. She surprised her husband by having And We Danced DJ Entertainment play “Fly, Eagles, Fly” for the recessional, since Kurtis is a BIG fan of the Philadelphia Eagles . When he heard the beginning of the song, his jaw dropped, and he quickly turned to Katie with a stunned expression! Before leaving the room, he shouted E-A-G-L-E-S at the end of the song and left to take some stunning photos with the view at Above the Valley!

Kurtis and Katie met through a social app. Her theme for the wedding was gold, white and pink. Dolce Vita Desserts provided an enticing array of cupcake flavors for the event along with the beautiful white cake that Kurtis and Katie cut together to celebrate the day. Shannon Susi was the photographer for the Foytik-Webb marriage day.

While Kurtis and Katie were preparing to feed each other a piece of cake, the crowd was asked if the couple would be nice while feeding each other the piece of cake. Kurtis and Katie were not nice and had icing smeared on their faces. And We Danced asked if they would kiss, and Kurtis promptly made sure that Katie had more icing than he did while kissing!

Thank you Kurtis and Katie for allowing And We Danced DJ Entertainment to be a part of your marriage ceremony and reception. Good luck in your new life as husband and wife!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment recently had a terrific evening at the marriage of Emilee Szabo and Sean Concannon at the Atherton Hotel. And We Danced DJ Entertainment provided the sound and music for the ceremony and reception while Dominic Ferragamo was the officiant for the couple’s wedding ceremony. The bride’s theme for the event was navy blue accented with gold and coral. Her bridesmaids wore stunning navy blue dresses which were accented with beautiful coral bouquets designed by Woodrings Floral Gardens of State College. The bride wore a beautiful white gown for her walk down the aisle. The bride chose Amy Long Walker of Shear Artistry Hair Salon in Pine Grove Mills to provide the right coiffure for the day. Sean and his groomsmen wore dashing gray suits accented with navy blue ties and boutonnières.

Sean and Emilee began their night dancing to Kenny Chesney’s “Me & You”. Sue Reese, a friend of the Szabo family, made the beautiful cake and cupcakes for the bridal couple. The cupcakes were chocolate or vanilla with white or peanut butter buttercream icing accented with a white, sparkly candy heart and coral flower. Bob Lambert of Bob Lambert Photography was the photographer for the day. He could be seen capturing those beautiful moments between the bride, groom, family and friends throughout the night. The fast-paced summer tour continued for And We Danced DJ Entertainment at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center with the marriage of Dwayne Smith and Beth Stover on Saturday, June 16, 2018.  Beth wore a stunning taupe colored lace dress accented with sequins.  Her matron of honor wore a similar lace dress accented with sequins in a dark tan color.  Dwayne wore a dapper gray suit while his best man sported a navy blue suit for the occasion.

Beth and Dwayne chose orange and purple as the color theme for the day.  Balloons decorated the walls and tables, and a gold balloon “congrats” sign appeared on the wall behind the bridal party table.  The bouquets, boutonnières, and table arrangements were designed by the neighbor of the groom and featured a remarkable blending of white to orange flowers.

The newlyweds started the night dancing to “We’ve Only Just Begun” by the Carpenters.  They had both graduated in the early seventies and wanted the music for the night to feature sixties and seventies music melodies.  And We Danced led the festivities for the bouquet and garter toss.  No ladies or men wanted to admit that they were single.  Dwayne and Beth helped And We Danced target the single ladies and men in the attendance.  A young woman caught the bouquet.  The photographer, a relative of the groom, caught the garter.  When it came time to place the garter on the young woman, we found out that the young woman was the photographer’s daughter.  Instead of placing the garter on the leg, the garter was placed on the young woman’s arm!!

The night was spectacular and featured tons of fun!  And We Danced played a memorable song for Dwayne’s oldest living relative that was in attendance that night.  He appeared on the dance floor dancing with his relative.  Many guests captured pictures and video of the event.

Thank you Dwayne and Beth for inviting And We Danced DJ Entertainment to be the entertainment and emcees for your wedding reception!!!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment was proud to provide the right songs and music for Jen Berkebile and Erik Schmalz’s spectacular wedding reception. Jen did not have a particular theme for the day, but she knew that poppies and ranunculus had to be the flowers of the day. She then chose colors that would work well with her choice of flowers. Jen wore a beautiful taupe dress, and her bridesmaids wore poppy colored dresses. The groom and groomsmen sported blue suits with poppy colored ties.

Jennifer Berkebile and Erik Schmalz met while in college at Duquesne University. They moved to the State College area to continue their education. Erik proposed to Jen in May, 2016. On June 2, 2018, Joe Jividen, friend and officiant, performed the wedding ceremony at the Rhoneymeade Arboretum and Sculpture Garden. Later, the party adjourned to the General Potter Farm to continue the celebration. And We Danced DJ Entertainment provided the music that had people dancing, singing and partying the night away. Lotsa Laffs Photo Booths was busy capturing the awesome fun and poses the guests were displaying that night.

Jen, Erik, family and friends were either on the dance floor or mugging for a picture behind the photo booth.  Full Circle Farms was the fantastic flower artists of the day for both the ceremony and reception. Instead of cake, the couple chose apple, cherry, blueberry, shoofly, chocolate shoofly, rhubard and strawberry rhubard pies as the dessert of the night. They were made by Dutch Valley Bakery. That Kitchen Witch was the caterer for the reception. Ellen and her staff were also busy bees keeping the bountiful buffet line moving and enjoyable.

Thank you Jen and Erik for allowing And We Danced DJ Entertainment to be a part of your wedding celebration! It was very clear that day that Jen Berkebile and Erik Schmalz were meant to be!!!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had a memorable evening celebrating the marriage of Stephanie Winkler and Zach Shinall at the Atherton Hotel in State College on May 18, 2018. Stephanie wore a beautiful white gown from Formalities, and Zach was dressed in a marvelous black tuxedo with a white vest and tie. The bride’s theme colors were blue and silver. The bridesmaids wore royal blue gowns, while the men wore black tuxes with royal blue vests and ties.

Both Zach and Stephanie are sci-fi enthusiasts, and it showed in their table layout at the Atherton. Tables didn’t have numbers, but names such as Hogwarts, U.S.S. Enterprise and Serenity. Jessica Jacoby, Atherton Hotel Wedding Planner and Sales Manager, and her staff did an outstanding job throughout the night keeping everyone happy. Delectable Delights supplied a beautiful two-layer cake alongside chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. The chocolate cupcakes were filled with a mouthwatering chocolate filling, and the vanilla were filled with lemon or raspberry.  Woodring’s Floral Gardens created beautiful boutonnieres and bouquets for the bride, groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen and guests. Daniel James Photography was quick to snap memorable moments throughout the night.

Zach and Stephanie met while in college. Both tried out for the debate team, and slowly realized they really cared for each other. They went off to further their education but remained committed in their long distance relationship. Today they are happy newlyweds.

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had a marvelous time entertaining the brand new Shinall’s. Stephanie is quite the dancer and could be found quite frequently on the dance floor. Old and young alike took to the floor for fast and slow dancing. For the last dance of the night, everyone was on the dance floor celebrating and serenading the happy couple.

Thank you Zach and Stephanie for allowing And We Danced DJ Entertainment to be a part of your big day!

Recently And We Danced DJ Entertainment was put to the test at a wedding reception during the garter toss. The groom was planning to pull some gag items out of the bride’s gown while the he was pulling off her garter, but nothing ever goes as planned!

The bride requested excerpts from three songs to use during this time.  We had to think on our feet and banter with the bride and groom to entertain the crowd during this process. While our DJ was playing these suggestive songs, our MC worked the crowd, bride and groom promoting the suggestive nature of the songs. The crowd enjoyed what was happening and was laughing along. We then played the third song, and things began to drastically change.

The bride and groom picked the third song, Pony by Ginuwine, to do their garter removal.  If you know the song, you can almost guess at what happened next. The very conservative crowd became very quiet and uncomfortable listening to the suggestive lyrics, and the raciness of the groom removing the garter. There were no gag items being removed from the bride’s gown.  Instead, the groom began to grind to the music! Our MC saw that the crowd was becoming uncomfortable and to relax them began to crack some jokes.  It was only 8pm, so references were made to it being the G-rated hour of the night getting close to the PG-rated hour! The crowd started to relax and laugh. Finally, the garter was off, and we were ready to toss the garter.  Whew!

Brides-to-be and grooms-to-be, please remember that it is your big day, but people can become uncomfortable if you push the envelope.  And We Danced DJ Entertainment is deft at bailing you out if need be!

We had so many people pat us on the back and thank us for doing such a great job afterward.  Wedding MCs need to think on their feet, and we proved ourselves that night.

Sometimes the Garter can be so Elusive and Complicated!
