On a beautiful, slightly warm, sunny, late afternoon April day, And We Danced DJ Entertainment set up on the Penn State HUB-Robeson lawn for a Karaoke event. Penn State’s Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, during the month of April, were celebrating Pride Month with primed-themed events. And We Danced DJ Entertainment was providing the organization and the Penn State students with some pride-themed karaoke under the stars. The campus event was known as KaraoGay.

The HUB-Robeson tent and lawn were filled with busy Penn State students eating, studying, working and playing games on this day. Sonya Wilmoth, the Interim Director for Penn State’s Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, had gathered a group of Pride members willing to take the stage and sing. Dr. Molly Countermine, Associate Teaching Professor from the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, was asked to begin the event with a pride-themed song. She is not only a professor, but a singer who performs in the band The Hi-Fi’s and is part of a duo group with local singer and songwriter Ted McCloskey. Dr. Countermine chose Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” to start off the KaraoGay festivities.

The students on the HUB-Robeson lawn were awed by her singing. Many were nervous to follow in her footsteps, but someone took up the mic to sing. The HUB-Robeson lawn of students began to tune in to the KaraoGay music. The lawn was filled with students listening, singing and having fun with the students that took the stage. The students that took the stage had awesome voices. The performers were ready, willing and able to belt their chosen KaraoGay tunes.

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had to end the KaraoGay event when the lawn was being readied for movie night under the stars. Sonya Wilmoth was excited that the student body enjoyed KaraoGay and plans to add this to events planned by the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity in the coming year.

Thank you Sonya and the Penn State’s Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity for celebrating Pride Month’s KaraoGay with And We Danced DJ Entertainment!

Today let’s meet one of the owners and DJs of And We Danced – DJ Chloe!

Hello DJ Chloe! What is your role at And We Danced DJ Entertainment?

I am an owner and DJ for And We Danced DJ Entertainment.

How did you get into the DJ business?

My parents have been in DJ entertainment business for many years. As I got older, they taught me how to work a mixer and prepare songs for an event. So, I learned the DJ business since it was part of my parents’ lives.

What is your favorite color?

I love the color hot pink.

What type of pet would you like to adopt?

I am a dog lover. My favorite is my miniature dachshund. She is my snuggle buddy and best buddy besides my sister.

What is your favorite food item?

My favorite food item are sugar cookies. My mom makes the best cutout sugar cookies. For my birthday, she makes me a batch with my favorite color icing. I can’t stop eating them because they taste so good.

What do you enjoy about DJing an event?

I love watching how people react to the songs I play. It is fun to see everyone dancing and having fun, but sometimes I like to test some musical selections to find out what people think.

What is your favorite artist/band/music genre?

I love electronic music.

Do you create your own remixes?

I do create my own remixes.  It’s really a blast doing that!

Do you feel different being a female DJ in a male dominated field?

I don’t think about it. My job as a DJ is to make sure the dance floor is packed with people dancing! As long as I make my clients and audience happy with my song selection and performance, then I can feel good about the impression that I make on the crowd! I like to be known as a DJ, and not just a female DJ!

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had the extreme pleasure of providing sound and musical entertainment for the marriage of Christian and Rachel at The Shop in Zion, Pennsylvania. James Bucci, a long time friend of the couple and their family, was the officiant for the beautifully warm, sunny day. The bride wore a chic black lace with a hint of white showing through the lace long sleeved with train wedding gown for her nuptials. Her bridesmaids were arrayed in a hue of colors consisting of burgundy, dusty rose and light gold, three quarter length sleeved, crushed velvet gowns. The dapper groom was garbed in a brownish burgundy suit, white shirt and flowered tie. His groomsmen sported, white shirts, burgundy suspenders, flowered ties and grayish brown pants. Christian and Rachel were happy and dreamy walking into the ceremony, but let loose for the recessional when Will Smith’s “Gettin’ Jiggy With It” began to be heard as they danced down the aisle alongside their bridal party.

Rachel’s stylish wedding gown was procured from J&B Bridals of Chambersburg. Lauren Lucas of Winged Beauty Salon styled the bride, attendants and mother’s hair for the day. The charming and lovely flower arrangements were created by A Little Flower Basket of Bellefonte. Christian’s mother, Belinda, was the marvelous caterer for the event with the appetizing and delicious buffet of food. The pièce de résistance for the day was the stunning wedding cake and cupcakes crafted by the bride’s mother, Stacy. Jana Scott of Jana Scott Photography was the incredible photographer capturing the breathtaking moments featuring Christian, Rachel and their loving family and friends.

And We Danced DJ Entertainment had the crowd rocking the entire night. From the first to the last dance, Christian and Rachel could be seen dancing, twirling and grinding to the music. The newlyweds started their night dancing to John Legend’s “Conversations In The Dark.” Later, family and friends cuddled up to their mates while enjoying some slow moments on the dance floor. The crowd continued to have fun performing the dance routines for familiar line dances. Rachel and Christian could always be seen kissing or smiling at each other throughout the night.

Thank you Christian and Rachel for choosing And We Danced DJ Entertainment to be a part of your wedding day festivities. Good luck as you begin your new life as husband and wife!
